Dam Vinh Hung wins Lan Song Xanh Music Award

VietNamNet Bridge – The 11th Lan Song Xanh (Green Wave) Music Awards honoring singers and musicians who have made outstanding contributions to Vietnamese music took place at the Lan Anh music venue in Ho Chi Minh City on December 8.

Dam Vinh Hung, who has left a deep impression on audiences with more than five albums and charity works in 2008, won the “Singer of the Year” award.

Young singer Tra My, one of the 10 finalists in Vietnam Idol 2007, received the “Promising Female Singer” award. She has attracted a large number of young music lovers with the “My Idol & Friends” tour and will hold performances for the Vietnamese community in the U.S. in early 2009.

The “Promising Male Singer” award was given to Hoang Hai, who was voted “Most Favorite Singer” by the audience of Vietnam Television’s Sao Mai Diem Hen (Morning Star Rendezvous) music award in 2006.

The top 10 singers at the 2008 Lan Song Xanh (Green Wave) Music Awards were Dam Vinh Hung, My Tam, Lam Truong, Cam Ly, Ho Ngoc Ha, Ha Anh Tuan, Ho Quynh Huong, Tuan Hung, Doan Trang and Le Hieu.

Winners of the “Most Favored Musician” awards included Vo Thien Thanh, Huy Tuan, Nguyen Hai Phong, Minh Khanh, Luong Bang Quang, Nguyen Hong Thuan, Luu Thien Huong, Ho Hoai Anh, Vu Quoc Binh and Minh Thu.

Bao Lu was named “Most Effective Sound-Mixing Musician” and Viet Tan “Best Studio”.

The organizing board donated VND240 million including proceeds from the auction of four gifts from singers Lam Truong, Ho Ngoc Ha, Dam Vinh Hung and Cam Ly to the HCMC Fund for the Poor and towards the construction of two houses for poor people.

Launched in 1997 by the Voice of Ho Chi Minh City radio station, the Lan Song Xanh (Green Wave) Music Awards is one of the nation’s biggest music contests.
