The Ministry of Information and Communications has said that all computer servers in government agencies must install open-source software by June 30.

At least 50 percent of the personnel expected to use it must be trained, it said further.

Open-source software products include OpenOffice, e-mail software for Mozilla ThunderBird and Mozilla Firefox web browsers and the Vietnamese software Unikey.

The ministry added that by the end of this year, 70 percent of servers in local government agencies must have open-source software installed and 70 percent of IT staff trained in its use.
