Ten events of software industry in 2008

VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa) and the Rhythm of Digital Life Magazine on Monday announced the ten outstanding events of the country’s software industry last year.

 

1. Vietnam entered the top 30 of destinations in the world for software outsourcing and HCM City ranked fourth among the 50-most attractive cities for software outsourcing.

 

2. The Institute for Software Industry and Digital Information Content of Vietnam was established.

 

3. Cooperation to produce software with North Europe and Europe started.

 

4. The construction of the largest software park in Southeast Asia in Thu Thiem, HCM City began.

 

5. The government announced the goal of training 1 million IT engineers.

 

6. The Harvey Nash Vietnam company won an international contract worth Eur54 million with Alcatel-Lucent (Germany).

 

7. The first issue of the Rhythm of Digital Life Magazine was published.

 

8. The Sao Khue 2008 Awards didn’t have a five-star ranking for software.

 

9. The software copyright infringement rate in Vietnam decreased to 85%.

 

10. Vietnam was elected Vice Chairman of the Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO).
