UK, Vietnam to ink shared vision pact

Top UK and Vietnamese diplomats will sign a document today setting out a shared vision of the UK -Vietnam priorities until 2013, the British Embassy in Hanoi said in a statement.

Sir Peter Ricketts, Permanent Under-Secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who is paying a three day official visit to Vietnam, will join Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Cuong at the signing ceremony.

The document identifies concrete goals and measures including trade and investment, development and governance, migration and organized crime objectives.

Also in Hanoi, Sir Peter and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Public Security Le The Tiem will sign a mutual legal assistance treaty which maps out a comprehensive legal framework for bilateral law enforcement cooperation.
