Lookatvietnam – Conical hats made in Chuong village, Phuong Trung commune in Hanoi’s outlying Thanh Oai district have been exported to Japan, China, the Republic of Korea and a number of European countries, including France and Germany.

With two thirds of its population involved in making conical hats, Chuong village annually supplies about 3 million hats to both domestic and foreign markets.

Apart from making traditional hats, Chuong villagers also make other types, such as non quai thao (flat palm hat with fringes), Hong Kong hats, and non bai tho (hat with poetry written on it).

In recent times, some local businesses have bought hats from the Chuong village and its surrounding areas for export. For example, the Hung Vuong company exports bout 30,000 hats each month.
