HCMC, Gia Lai kids clash in finals of special football tournament

Ho Chi Minh City and Gia Lai teams on Saturday set up a final clash in the 2009 Football Tournament for Disadvantaged Children after posting semifinal victories by big margins.

In the first semifinal match at the Seventh Military Zone Stadium in HCMC’s Tan Binh District, Gia Lai defeated Thailand 8-1 while HCMC crushed their capital city opponents 7-2 in the other encounter.

The final match between HCMC and Gia Lai will take place at 15:30 today, with Thailand and Hanoi fighting for third place an hour earlier.

Tournament organizers will later select a Vietnamese team for a friendly tour of Thailand in September.
