9 confirmed cases of A/H1N1 flu in Vietnam

The Department’s Medical Affairs Office in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6 confirmed that to date 9 people have tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu virus in Vietnam.

Five of the 9 patients were on the same flight with six-year-old Hua Nhi Y, who bears American citizenship, was returning to Vietnam from Texas in the US and staying in the southern province of Dong Nai.

 

In addition to her mother, another her three relatives tested positive for the virus and are being treated at the Tropical Hospital where they await a second PCR test result.

 

On June 6, Cai Viet Thanh Duy flying from Australia to Vietnam was the sixth case whose second PCR test came out positive for the A/H1N1 flu virus.

 

This brings to 9 the total number of people testing positive for A/H1N1 flu virus in Vietnam.

 

The Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee has decided to spend nearly VND3.2 billion to buy medical equipment and launch information campaigns for the public on how to guard against contracting the virus.

 

The Yen Bai Department of Public Health has established 5 groups to combat the disease and has attached special importance to areas currently affected by acute diarrhoea.

 

Provincial hospitals increased staff and medical equipment to assist local hospitals at lower levels to treat patients and organize the isolation of patients affected by the disease.
