This is the second time that Tuan has held an exhibition of his work and the first time that he has introduced his silk paintings to the public.
When asked about the ideas behind and the process to create his paintings, Tuan said that it took him two years to complete the work, which were based on his research on city life.
There have been few silk painting exhibits in the city, with most being made on traditional canvasses, he added.
“Most artists are afraid that they will not become a shining star among a big group of contemporary popular painters, like Nguyen Phan Chanh, Mai Trung Thu and Le Pho,” Tuan said.
He created the exhibit despite this as “it’s my love, my passion and I just follow my heart,” Tuan confided.
The free exhibit will remain open until June 20 at 53 Ho Tung Mau, Tu Do Art Gallery, District 1.
Bui Tien Tuan, 38, graduated from HCMC Fine Art University. He has various paintings on display locally, and at the Combee Gallery in the U.K and the Art Exhibition for World Peace in South Korea.
