Cu Huy Ha Vu not a lawyer

VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Lawyers’ Federation has stated that Cu Huy Ha Vu is not a lawyer.

Lawyer’s complaint against PM rejected

The law office named Cu Huy Ha Vu, at 24 Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi, is chaired by lawyer Nguyen Thi Duong, Cu Huy Ha Vu’s wife. This office was registered on April 9, 2007.

The Vietnam Lawyers’ Federation asked the media to accurately report about Cu Huy Ha Vu’s title to avoid misunderstanding and to not harm the prestige of lawyers.

On June 11, Cu Huy Ha Vu lodged a petition against the Prime Minister’s decision approving the plan on zoning for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of bauxite ore at the Hanoi People’s Court.

On June 15, 2009, the Hanoi People’s Court released an announcement on the rejection of Vu’s petition for lack of legal foundation.

On June 17, Vu lodged an appeal with the Hanoi People’s Court’s tribunal president against the above announcement.

The Hanoi’s tribunal president’s decision said that this would be the last decision on the case.

Cu Huy Ha Vu, 52, PhD in Law, is the son of famous poet Huy Can and adopted child of well-known poet Xuan Dieu. He has worked at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1979.
