Vietnamobile unveils new deal; VNPT signs infrastructure deal; Mobiphone’s Q-teen wins award

Vietnamobile unveils new deal

Marking a first in Viet Nam, customers can now enjoy inter-network calls at almost the same price as same-carrier ones. Freedom to chat with three chosen mobile numbers at only VND990/minute.

With their commitment to bringing innovative and high-value call packages, Vietnamobile on Thursday unleashed its latest “Circle of friends” promotion, offering special preferences for customers who teleconference daily. This is the most attractive offer to date at only VND990/minute for inter-network calls and the only service available for group-based communications.

Under the plan, at just VND1,490 a day, Vietnamobile’s subscribers can choose up to three mobile phone numbers to form a caller group. The group of three numbers can be changed via one simple sms based on customer demand. This promotion applies to the operator’s pre-paid subscribers.

VNPT signs infrastructure deal

The Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently signed an agreement to implement the principle of bid packages to upgrade and expand transmission lines for financial communications infrastructure, at a total cost of approximately VND74.5 billion in Ha Noi.

The VNPT will provide related services to meet the demands of MoF in maintaining transmission lines, upgrading and expanding new lines for unique financial sector media infrastructure to the end of 2011. All charges for upgrading transmission lines speed as well as hiring terminal equipment will be free. For transmission line quality, the VNPT is committed to provide high-speed, stable transmission services.

In August, 2009, the VNPT and MoF signed a co-operation agreement on applying digital signatures for MoF electronic public administration services.

Mobiphone’s Q-teen wins award

On February 2, the Viet Nam Posts and Telecoms magazine co-ordinated with reporters from Viet Nam Television’s (VTV) ICT department and newspapers to vote for the best mobile package of 2009.

The six chosen packages included Big Zero (Beeline), Maxi Talk (Vietnamobile), Eco 999 (S-Fone), Talk 24 (Vinaphone), Q-Teen (MobiFone), and I am student (Viettel). The criteria for the best packages included new ideas in design, development progress, convenience and attraction to the market, success and profit, and meaning and business model effectiveness.

Q-Teen (MobiFone) defeated the others to take the award with 578 points, following by Big Zero with 574 points and Maxi Talk with 511 points. MobiFone continued with last year’s success by winning the award for the second successive year. Q-Teen is the first package in Viet Nam designed specifically for teenagers and launched in August 2009.
