LookAtVietnam - The chief coach and the coaching assistant of Viettel’s young football team, both of which are former stars of the national squad, have been fined for insulting referees at a National U19 Football Tournament.

The chief coach Nguyen Hong Son (photo) has to serve a warning and pay a fine of 2 million dong for offensive language directed at the referee at the match between his team and Nam Ninh on February 3 in Hai Phong.

Son’s assistant, Nguyen Duc Thang, is suspended from now until the end of the tournament, plus 2.5 million dong worth of fines.

The Vietnam Football Federation’s viewpoint is that a coach’s behavior should set an example for footballers so any non-sporting action should be penalized.
