Vietnam finish twelfth at Asian Junior Athletic Championships

Vietnam finished in twelfth place with one gold and one bronze medal at the 15th Asian Junior Athletic Championships, which concluded on June 12 after four days of competition in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The event attracted the participation of 524 athletes from 34 countries across Asia.

Nguyen Thi Huyen secured Vietnam’s gold in the women’s 400m race after clocking a time of 59.92 seconds, while the silver and bronze medals went to Zaiko Marina from Kazakhstan and Lo Pei-Lin from Taiwan (China), respectively.

Le Trong Giang also won a bronze medal for Vietnam earlier in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase event.

China was crowned the overall champion of the competition with a haul of 15 gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
