Children”s paintings on war, peace on show in HCM City

July 5, 2012

LookAtVietnam – Paintings and a poem by Japanese and Vietnamese children expressing their feelings and thoughts on war and peace are on show at the HCM City War Remnants Museum.

Chien Tranh Va Hoa Binh Duoi Doi Mat Tre Tho (War and Peace Through Children’s Eyes) features 40 water colour and oil colour works by Vietnamese children who won the Net Ve Xanh (Green Drawing) painting contest.

Nine paintings and the poem are by winners of the Children’s Peace Message Project for Okinawa in Japan.

Nguyen Lan Anh of the Cuu Long Secondary School said the exhibition helped her to understand more about the horror of war, and understood Vietnamese and Japanese children’s dreams of a happy and peaceful life.

The exhibition, organised by the Viet Nam-Okinawa Friendship Association, the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Association in HCM City, and the museum, will remain open until July 12.
