LookAtVietnam Bridge – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on May 14 made a decision on punishments for related sides in the incident at Chi Lang Stadium on May 11.
In that match, Dong Tam Long An club lost a goal, which led to a 2-3 loss to host Da Nang. Notably, before taking away the goal from Dong Tam Long An, referee Nguyen Xuan Hoa had given it to them. Moreover, Dong Tam Long An’s striker didn’t make any mistake.
Head of Dong Tam Long An team, Pham Phu Hoa, said match supervisors put pressure on the referee so the referee changed his decision. In that match, two supervisors and the Vice Head of the organising board Mai Duc Chung walked down to the football ground to talk with referee Hoa.
Hoa’s behaviour caused strong protest by football fans and experts, who said Dong Tam Long An’s goal was legal. They also criticised the referee’s attitude and supervisors’ behaviours because supervisors don’t have the right to intervene in the job of referees.
In that match, to protest Dong Tam Long An’s goal, Da Nang players left the football ground under the call of their coach, Le Huynh Duc. After that, Dong Tam Long An’s players also left the ground to protest the referee’s decision to not recognise their goal. The match, thus, was interrupted for 15 minutes.
Three days after the match, VFF decided to suspend referee Hoa for four matches. The two supervisors, Tran Van Thanh and Pham Van Quang, have been officially warned and are suspended for three matches. Vice Head of the organising board Mai Duc Chung is being blamed.
Da Nang club is also being punished. Its chief coach Le Huynh Duc has been fined VND8 million and banned from attending the next four matches. Its captain Le Hong Minh has to pay a VND4 million fine and is suspended for two matches. The club also has been served a warning and has to pay a fine of VND20 million.
