LookAtVietnam Bridge - Ho Chi Minh City engineer Bui Hoang Lang has announced his successful manufacture of a biogas-fueled generator that uses animal waste.
The engineer said he reconfigured petrol and diesel-fueled generators to make them suitable for biogas fuel. His new generators could supply power to run many household electrical appliances like televisions, fans and water pumps.
The machines also can be fueled by industrial gas at a cost 30 percent lower than using petrol.
Animal farms, especially in remote areas with low voltage and high electricity costs, would benefit the most from biogas-fueled generators. Raising 40 pigs would provide enough biogas to run a 2 KW generator for 24 hours, said Lang.
The invention helps to effectively reduce environment pollution at animal farms and ease the power shortage in Vietnam , as the price of petroleum continues to rise.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said the government always encourages recycled energy in order to protect the environment.
The Danang University Centre for Environmental Protection Research is currently cooperating with Osaka Prefecture University of Japan to research the absorption of metal gas in biogas.
The research hopes to find a method of charging biogas into normal gas cylinders to use for small-sized automobile engines. The outcome would help farmer households fuel their farm equipment and trucks by biogas, saving cost and caring for the environment.
